I am interested in the relationships between ecosystems, climate change, food systems, and human health. A habitable future grounded in mutual aid and reciprocity in the face of impending ecological collapse and climate catastrophe depends on understanding these connections. Goff Lab’s research on microbial responses to environmental stressors helps inform strategies to preserve biodiversity, improve food and water security, and resist the spread of infectious diseases.

My studies began as a music major at SUNY Fredonia. Music teaches people why we study any subject: to attain a harmonious world despite the odds. Upon my departure, I worked a range of jobs, during which I became increasingly alienated from the solace of wilderness I experienced in my youth. Reconnecting with wild places deepened my appreciation for the environment and sharpened my sense of what is at stake.
Eventually, I returned to school at Onondaga Community College where I double-majored in Mathematics and Science: Biology and Laboratory Science, hoping to attend ESF. I am grateful to say I was accepted and plan to use my education to fight for ecological integrity, scientific literacy, cooperation, and community.
